IN OUR WORLD
Making Space for God in our World “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Sanctuary is committed to living in and being an integral part of Seattle’s Greenwood Neighborhood. Our worship space, offices and Green Bean Coffee House are all located in the heart of Greenwood. Many of our staff and participants live in or near Greenwood. We focus much of our outreach and service on the Greenwood Neighborhood. Sanctuary understands Jesus’ calling to go to Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and the Uttermost Parts of the World to refer to Greenwood, Seattle, North America and the rest of the world. In addition to focusing energy on outreach activities in the area, we are committed through financial means, staff-time and volunteer-time to Greenwood through the Green Bean Coffee House, Greenwood Phinny Chamber of Commerce and other organizations. Also, 10% or more of Sanctuary’s budget is strategically committed to mission giving to causes including World Vision, Young Life, The North Seattle Boys and Girls Club, City Team Ministries, New Horizons Ministry, Coalition for community Development & Renewal. We also sponsor special events and take special offerings for important causes. On occasion, when the community or world is faced with a crisis such as the Tsunami in Southeast Asia or Hurricane Katrina, Sanctuary has dedicated an entire Sunday Offering to such a cause in recognition of the extraordinary need.
