We live our faith in Christ in every square inch of creation that we work in, live in, play in, or study in. Yet we find our weekly rhythm of gathering to worship God is a crucial touchpoint that
--- reorients us towards the things that matter most: loving God and neighbor,
--- roots us in the True story of the whole world - a world created by God, twisted by sin, redeemed by Christ (who empowers his church through his Spirit), and that one day will be made new,
--- helps us both express and experience the good news of Jesus,
--- sends us out into the city empowered by the Spirit to live lives rooted in Christ, for the flourishing of our neighbors.
We sing old songs and new songs. We celebrate communion (sometimes called the eucharist, or the Lord's supper). We believe the Bible is God's Word to us, so we listen to it read, preached, taught, and expressed creatively (through visual arts, song, or spoken word). We listen in silence, we let the kids dance and make a ruckus, and we linger in leisurely conversation.
And we welcome all regardless of where you are in your faith - firm in your belief, mired in doubt, questioning, curious, skeptical, or just plain desperate. Jesus asks you:
“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” (Matthew 11:28-30, The Message Translation)
