On behalf of the merger team, Mark, Ralph, and Amy shared the following update on the merger process and timeline (see graphic below) a few weeks ago.
Both churches’ elders continue to be open to input, questions, or other feedback either in person, email, or through this online form. After our shared town hall meeting in June (where we shared the proposed bylaws and articles of incorporation) and a season of listening over this summer, we are moving forward with the plan to merge into one church. Each church will hold the following meetings for prayer, discussion, and taking the necessary votes to move forward.
- Sanctuary – October 12, immediately following Sunday worship
- 2nd & final vote to disaffiliate from the CRC
- Vote to merge with United into a new church
- United – October 26, immediately following Sunday worship
- Vote to disaffiliate from the EFCA
- Vote to merge with Sanctuary into a new church
Two additional notes:
- The final language for the votes may differ slightly from what is above, but that is the intent of the votes.
- We have shared, for your review, the proposed bylaws, articles of incorporation, and the merger teams response to the 25 issues from Better Together. We will share any updates or amendments to these documents prior to the votes.
We are also asking for prayer, and for suggestions for what to name our new church. You may share those in the form.
Please pray for our churches, for the elders of each church, and for God to be glorified in all of this!
