Spring and Summer are seasons that introduce the fresh and the new and the vibrant. I think we will find this to be especially true for the Summer of 2013.

In addition to anticipating our weekly barbecues at Greenwood Park, we will also be opening the Green Bean (v.5). It looks like we are shooting for an August opening date. You won’t believe the energy and creativity that are going into the last stretch of this project to have a new and enduring Christ-empowered presence here in Greenwood. Teams are dreaming and working like crazy to anticipate all the opportunities and needs of the new Bean and it is going to Rock!

Summer is also a time of change for Summer Mohrlang. She and Mark will be taking some maternity leave while the add a new baby to their family. Mark will be gone the month of June and Summer will be out until after Labor Day. During this time, Summer will also be shifting her work away from managing the Green Bean’s business efforts and focusing on the outreach at the Green Bean and throughout Greenwood. She will also be doing this with an extra half day per week of personal time to be a mom, which we bless her with!

At the same time as Summer Mohrlang being scarce for a few months, you will be seeing a lot of our new Green Bean manager, Jason Groenink. He’s on board full time as of May 1st and he is up to his ears in contracts for toilet paper, food products, and other services. He’s also working on the interior design, the business plan, food plan, scheduling, accounting system and sixty-three other things. If you can catch Jason between tasks, give him a pat of the back and get to know a fine Christian man who is our answer to prayer for an experienced minister and coffee shop manager.

On a personal note, with vacation and a leave to visit an dying cousin, I have been totally on the road and my life has been a blur. One thing that is fresh for me this summer is the joy of staying in town and being right in the middle of our lovely Sanctuary community. I am excited to continue our series in the Gospel of Matthew and imagine in new ways what it means for us be faithful followers of Jesus Christ.

Welcome to the freshness of Spring and Summer. Let’s enjoy it together and see what God has for us in this season.

Lotsa Love,

Randy
