Going multicultural has long been a challenge of traditionally Anglo denominations, including the CRC.  But, we are working hard at being a people of “every tongue and tribe and people and nation” per the glorious view of the book of Revelation.  And, here in the Seattle area, we are taking a big step forward. Just a few weeks ago, we received a three year grant to use Pastor Clarence Presley of Word of Truth Ministries for two days a week of recruiting and training non-white and non-English speaking leaders to the CRC.  Some of these leaders are already pastoring churches.  Some are in training to be church planters.  Clarence is already working with close to a dozen leaders from Tacoma to the South end of Seattle.Clarence brings vast experience as a pastor, church planter and evangelist to this new position. He is a great leader and has those apostolic skills that are rare. Apostolicly-gifted leaders have a deep concern to spread the influence of Christ by seeing new outposts of faith formed.  They get a little itchy staying in one place and are most at home when they are making more new things happen “out there”.  So, for Clarence this is perfect!  He can continue his great work at Word of Truth and also help us get people of color and diversity into our CRC church.  We need these folks to meet the growing immigrant and pluralistic nature of America, particularly on the West Coast, where the influx of new Christ followers and potential Christ followers that are non-Anglo is booming.

So, pray for Clarence and pray for these new and emerging leaders.  You will be hearing more soon.
