Doing Church Differently
Friends – we are the church. As a church that meets in a rented theater, we have always understood that the church is not the building, but is instead the people of God. Now we get to deepen our understanding of just how true that is, as we shift from regular weekly gatherings to smaller, more intimate gatherings of families, small groups, or even worship on our own. We are still the church, it’s just how we do church that is changing. While I cannot see the future, it does seem that this is the new reality for us for a while: weeks, maybe even months. I am so eager to return to meeting in person, but until it is safe to do so, we are going to continue sending out tools for you to worship in your homes. I just finished recording a conversation with Dan Claus (pastor of Shoreline CRC) for this week’s installment; it was fun! I hope it is a blessing to you. Be on the lookout for our “Sunday Worship Reimagined” email. Set aside some time to quiet the news and listen for the voice of your Good Shepherd. “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7). Be thinking about and praying for those who are home-bound, who may need a phone-call, or a personal shopper. Wash your hands. Love your neighbor.

I love you,
Mark
