As families within our church grow, we will soon have children becoming adolescents. It won’t be long before they are in middle school, and then high school. Adolescence can be a very angsty, confusing and hard time in a young man or women’s life. There are a lot of thing young people seek guidance on that they cannot ask their parents or their teachers. Typically they turn to society and their equally confused peers for answers. Many times this leads to experimentation with life long, damaging things. Wouldn’t it be great if there were another adult voice in the life of a student that really listened to them and displayed to them the Gospel of Jesus Christ by loving them unconditionally?

In Young Life we seek to be that healthy alternative place to turn to. Young Life is primarily a middle school and high school outreach ministry that seeks to send its leaders out into the lives of middle and high school students. We attempt to befriend students and build trust through consistency in these relationships. We also facilitate a variety of functions with varying amounts of spirituality: events, clubs, campaigners (bible studies), etc.

Young Life brilliantly served this purpose in my life and spiritual walk while I was in high school and I have been involved ever since. My relationship with Jesus did not begin through Young Life but it did provide the majority of my influence and spiritual development during those formative years. Additionally, through Young Life many of my best friends came to know Jesus in a truly meaningful way. And I’m not the only one in our congregation either; Randy Rowland, Jim Caldwell and others believe like I do that this ministry is exceedingly effective in changing the lives of middle and high school student for God’s glory. With that I would like to invite you to celebrate with us what Young Life in Northwest Seattle is doing and offer you an opportunity to participate in a variety of ways:

“The annual Celebration Banquet for NW Seattle Young Life will be hosted at GreenwYoung Lifeood Square on February 26th. It promises to be an evening of fun, good food, and an entertaining sample of what Young Life is! The team of local volunteers hope raise significant needed funds by painting a clear snapshot of how the Holy Spirit is moving through this ministry in our community.  Please contact Blake Raney at 206.890.7923 or blakeraney@gmail.com for information and a formal invitation. More details are on their website at nwseattle.younglife.org.”
